Ajax Suggestion Tutorial

I said in a previous post that it would be great if the site could suggest sat nav systems to the visitor when they type in the search bar.

So, if they start typing "To" for TomTom, they would be presented with a list of various TomTom models.

Ajax is the new JavaScript and has come back with a vengeance!

Working examples of Ajax Suggestion can be found at Google Suggest and at Dynamic Ajax. It is here that I have found a script that I will use to create my own Ajax Search.

As with the rest of the site, there will be a bit of a lag in setting everything up but once it has been established, there is less to d later on and more possibility of creating a site I can essentially forget about which creates passive income!

There are a few browser compatibility issues with Ajax so I may have to change the script if it is buggy. I can code in PHP, I can dabble with Javascript but have absolutely no idea when it comes to Ajax. To be honest, JavaScript is more or less the same. By dabble, I mean I can add the <script language=....> tags to a page!

Update on 12/12/06 - turns out the Dynamic Ajax code does not work for me! I have moved on to Creating an Autosuggest Textbox with JavaScript.

I have also added Ajax books to my Amazon Wish List. Sort the list by priority to view the books at the top.
