I've never generated a mobile phone lead (or at least not to my knowledge) so I was pleasantly surprised at two aspects that arose from this:
Firstly, I'm interested by the amount of commissions! I mean who wouldn't be convinced by a lead worth up to £70?! It's that price for a reason though. Generally lead payouts are based on the difficulty of securing leads. Mortgage leads pay extremely well whereas freebie hunter leads play significantly less due to the fact that everyone loves a freebie!
Next, I'm even more interested by the fact that the source was Compare Sat Nav. I don't advertise mobile phone deals on there so I'm intrigued to find that someone's come on the site, may or may not have purchased a sat nav and then gone on to sign up for a contract phone!
So ultimately, I've (albeit unwittingly) generated a mobile phone lead without having a website optimised for phones. What's going through my mind is intrigue at the potential of what could be achieved if I did have a mobile phone site.

Tim has a very good point. If you are looking to creating a mobile site, would you go for any PPC traffic? I tried this route out a while back and because the bid prices are high and the potential for a contract to fall through, either due to credit checks or fraud, is high, it can get quite expensive!

Whether the contract application for the mobile is successful or not is key though - the ratio is normally circa 50%.
